The Healthy Food Race is an event that educates youths aged 13-17 years old about the importance of healthy nutrition through a variety of fun and interactive activities like an online game and a competitive food race.
The following are the 3 rounds for the Healthy Food Race:
i. Online Game: Gobble Bobble (12 August 2008 – 19 September 2008)
ii. Healthy Food Race Preliminary (22 October 2008)
iii. Healthy Food Race Finals (7 November 2008)

1. Online Game: Gobble Bobble
This is the qualifying round of the Healthy Food Race. Participants’ nutritional knowledge is put to test as their avatars munch their way through the aisles of yummy nutritious goodies! Participants from schools with the highest average score may get a chance to compete in the actual Health Food Race against one another.
Rules and Regulations
i. Only students from the secondary level aged 13 to 17 years old is eligible for this competition.
ii. Participants must first retrieve a Unique School Pin from their school in order to participate in the online Gobble Bobble game.
iii. Participants must register themselves at www.neeteen.sg/gobblebobble and a verification email with the Activation Code will be sent to them.
iv. Participants are to sign-in using their email address and the Activation Code upon receiving the verification email and they can start playing.
v. When the game ends, the score will be automatically captured and used for calculating the average score of their school.
vi. The online Gobble Bobble game will close on 19 September 2008 at 5 p.m. Game scores submitted after this date will not be considered for the Healthy Food Race.
vii. The top 20 schools with the highest average score will qualify for the Healthy Food Race Preliminary round. The qualifying schools and will be notified 1-2 weeks after the online game closes.
[Note: Only schools that have at least 80 participants for the online Gobble Bobble game will be shortlisted for the Healthy Food Race Preliminary round.]
2. Healthy Food Race Preliminary Round
Participants from the shortlisted schools have to race around a neighbourhood to complete the tasks given to them at different stations along the route.
Rules and Regulations
i. The preliminary round will take place on 22 October 2008.
ii .Each of the 20 shortlisted schools will be allowed to send a maximum of 5 teams comprising of 5 members each. All teams must be accompanied by at least 1 teacher.
iii. Shortlisted schools need not send the same students who have participated in the online Gobble Bobble Game for this round of the race.
iv .An application package will be sent to the shortlisted schools upon notification. Shortlisted schools must submit the application package to HPB by 30th September 2008 if they would like to take part in the race.
v. If there is no response from any one of the 20 shortlisted schools by the indicated date, the school with the next highest average score will be eligible to take part in the race.
vi. Each team will be allocated a route in a neighbourhood and is required to complete all tasks at each station before proceeding to the next station.
vii. The top 4 teams that complete the race in the shortest time will proceed on to the finals on the condition that teams have completed all the tasks given correctly.
3. Healthy Food Race Finals
The top 4 teams from the preliminary round will take part in the Finals. Participants from the shortlisted schools have to race around a neighbourhood to complete the tasks given to them at different stations along the route.
Rules and Regulations
i. The finals of the Healthy Food Race will take place on 7th November 2008.
ii. Each qualified school will be required to send one team comprising of 5 members. Teams must be accompanied by at least 1 teacher.
iii. Each team will be required to complete all tasks given to them at each station before proceeding to the next station.
iv. The teams will be judged based on fastest times they take to complete all the stations.
4. Prizes:

5. Best Supporting Team Award
The prizes for the Healthy Food Race will be given out during the National Healthy Lifestyle Campaign (NHLC) 2008. NHLC will be taking place at the Padang on the 7 November 2008, from 3.30 p.m to 9.30 p.m. Schools in the finals of the Healthy Food Race are encouraged to get the students down to the Pandang to support their school mates during the Prize Giving Ceremony. The school with the best supporting team will get $1000.
Judging Criteria
i.Size of the supporting team
ii.How spontaneous is the team in term of cheering for their school mate.
iii.The HPB’s decision is final and no correspondences will be entertained.
iv.HPB reserves the right to vary the rules and regulations of this competition without prior notice.
v.The HPB reserve the right not to award any of the prizes should the entries fail to fulfill the judging criteria or rules of the challenge.
